Here at Pure Pet Food, we’re always looking at ways to improve dog’s lives. We headed down to our local RSPCA to find out more about the work they’re doing at the shelter, ways we can help and to deliver hundreds of healthy meals.
We met Lauren, the Fundraising Manager at the RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District, who showed us around their centre and told us some of the centre’s history as well as information about what they need help with.
This RSPCA branch takes in hundreds of unwanted and/or mistreated animals every year to give them a better life through rehabilitation, treatment, training and care, before finding their loving forever homes. To fund such amazing work, they rely on the generosity of the local community.
There are lots of ways to donate to your local shelter. You can donate money towards their food, vet bills and more, directly on their websites. Or you can donate some of your unwanted items which they can sell on at their stores, including books, clothes, toys, homeware and more. These donations will help fund any vet bills, food, and training to help them on their journey towards finding their forever home.
Sponsoring an animal at your local shelter with regular payments will help provide all the care they need! Plus, you might get updates on how you’ve helped, which is super rewarding!
Push yourself with a sponsored run, don your apron for a bake sale, or participate in local events! Whatever you would like to do, you can get support from your local charity on how to promote and how to set up a fundraising page.
You never know what you might find in your local charity shop! Whether you’re looking for your next book or wardrobe essential, you can go down to your local charity shop to support the shelter and help the environment too.
From driving donation vans to assisting in the kennels, there are numerous ways to dedicate your time to support your local centre.
Recognising it's not a decision to be taken lightly, if you find room in your home for another dog, you can apply to foster or adopt. Simply get in touch with your local shelter to find out more.
There are over 100 RSPCA branches around the country, each operating as a separately registered charity. They run their own campaigns and rely on their local community to help raise funds. To find out more and to support the RSPCA in your area, make sure you contact them directly to see what events they are holding and what you can do to help.
Our friends over at the RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District rehabilitate and rehome around 500-600 animals each year! One of the amazing success stories is Angel.
Angel came to Lauren and the team from a very cruel environment. They thought she’d given up. They spent 6 months working on a rehabilitation plan, gaining her trust and training her. With the love and devotion from the team she’s found her forever home to a local couple in Yorkshire!
